Over the course of 2 days we will have two 2.5hour webinars where we will explore the interconnected impacts of war, environmental collapse, and human and animal health and welfare through the One Health lens. Through expert talks and frontline testimony from Gaza, we’ll examine how agriculture, veterinary, environmental, and human healthcare systems have been systematically dismantled - and what rebuilding a resilient One Health ecosystem in Palestine will require.
Participants will gain insight into:
1. The destruction of agricultural and veterinary infrastructure and its implications for food security and public health.
2. The lived experience of healthcare workers and veterinarians operating under siege conditions and the ethical dimensions of the care they can offer in humanitarian crises.
3. The long-term environmental and toxicological effects of modern warfare on animals, ecosystems, and human health.
4. The professional and moral responsibilities of medical professionals, veterinarians, and eco-scientists within global One Health networks.
Learning Outcomes
1. Articulate the relevance of One Health principles in conflict and humanitarian disaster settings.
2. Recognise the veterinary role in food security, public health, and community resilience.
3. Identify the impacts of war on animal health welfare, public health and environmental health.
4. Reflect on ethical and professional duties when responding to global humanitarian crises.
