We are proud to announce the launch of our new On-Demand Veterinary Education offering at Duggan Veterinary CPD Ed. This exciting new initiative reflects our commitment to providing accessible and flexible learning opportunities to the veterinary community. Our On-Demand platform will empower veterinary professionals to access high-quality education anytime, anywhere, making continuous learning a seamless part of their busy schedules.

Sarah Keane, CPD Education Manager states: ‘At Duggan Veterinary, our goal is to make education and professional development accessible to the wider veterinary community. While we look forward to our onsite days with vets and nurses, we understand that the current climate and retention issues within the Irish veterinary population mean that vets and nurses face difficulties in taking time away from the clinic. Investing in the education of our staff should not be seen as a benefit in a working environment, but rather as a pathway that enables us to offer more advanced clinical services and make full use of our veterinary professionals.’

Worryingly, the most recent VCI Workforce Review (2024) stated that career progression for veterinary practitioners and veterinary nurses is one of the main reasons for leaving clinical practice. By fostering an environment of continuous learning and growth within the roles of vets and nurses, we aim to promote longevity in clinical practice and increase job satisfaction.

Career progression was also highlighted as one of the top reasons why veterinary professionals would not be returning to the Veterinary Council of Ireland register in the future. As a result, many veterinary nurses have pursued roles in other areas of veterinary medicine, including education, the Department of Agriculture, and sales roles within veterinary pharmaceutical and equipment companies.

This has fuelled the development of our On-Demand Veterinary Education model at Duggan Veterinary, and we are delighted to launch our online learning portal this week with our Anaesthesia Bundle, delivered by two of the top anaesthesia nurses in Ireland and the UK. This affordable and accessible veterinary education is available to everyone and can be accessed through our dedicated CPD website, cpd.dugganvet.ie.
