Webinar: OVINE FERTILITY - from manipulation of the breeding season to feeding for success
Sheep reproduction isn't just about obstetrics and abortions. As the breeding season approaches, it's important for vets and farmers to give due consideration to optimising ram and ewe fertility - and to new developments allowing advancement or synchronization of the breeding season for better returns.
Should you flush ewes or give trace element supplements? Are you unsure how much PMSG to give when? Confused between your CIDRs® and your sponges? Wandering if a teaser tup will work in every system? Then this is the session for you! Synchronisation of ewes, or advancing the breeding season are common discussion points for sheep farmers of all sizes (although their motivations may be very different). For some it’s about the increased revenue obtained by selling lambs earlier, and for others it’s about having older animals for the show season. Either way, as vets we can provide valuable knowledge, insight and services to these clients. During this session we will review the sheep breeding season and its triggers, discuss what options are available for synchronisation and advancement and, consider how we can tailor breeding programmes to the needs of each individual client.
