Surgery is a key part of the management of many ear diseases. This course will use a combination of lectures; to provide context and highlight important aspects of decision-making and highly practical hands-on wet-lab training to consolidate skills.
 
The morning's lectures will be supported by hands-on practical wet-lab sessions under the under the watchful supervision of European College Veterinary Surgeons specialist. Gain the confidence and skills you need to manage your patients effectively.

You will discuss the pathogenesis of common ear conditions encountered in small animal practice, the role of imaging and other investigations, and how this information assists surgical decision-making. The technical aspects of the most widely employed surgical procedures will be taught in detail with a focus on tips and tricks to facilitate accurate execution and avoid complications.

    • Lateral wall resection – Zepp’s procedure
    • Ventral bulla osteotomy - VBO (in the cat)
    • Total ear canal ablation / lateral bulla osteotomy – TECA/LBO

  • Potential complications and their management
